  WHAT HAPPENED?

  The central defender is close to penning new terms until 2030, report in Germany, with only the finer details still to be finalised. He was initially out of contract in 2026 but will now be in Munich for the long term.

  Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund said recently: "Upa knows that we definitely want to extend his contract. We have had very good discussions with him. We would like to extend his contract with him as soon as possible."
